北京市人大常委會表示，北京市將推動學校、醫院等公共機構以及商業辦公樓宇、旅游景區、酒店等經營性場所垃圾強制分類逐步全覆蓋。

北京市探索形成了四種垃圾分類投放模式：一是建立有人值守的垃圾分類驛站，兼具垃圾稱重計量和積分獎勵功能，方便有意愿的居民參與垃圾分類;二是采用撤桶撤站方式，實行定時定點流動收集，最大限度實現垃圾回收不落地;三是采用上門或定點回收再生資源、廚余垃圾等方式，最大限度地方便群眾分類、提高回收量;四是在部分有條件的小區設置垃圾分類智能投放箱，減少人工成本，擴展垃圾分類服務范圍。
