2016考研英語：長難句是怎樣煉成的之并列句

一、關于并列句

所謂并列句，顧名思義，就是兩個或兩個以上的簡單句或句子成分，用并列連詞連接在一起構成的句子。從語法結構上來說，就是句子與句子之間做“加法”，所謂的“加號”就是各種各樣的連接詞。但從表達意思上來說，句間關系卻不是簡單的疊加，一般來說有以下幾種情況：

1、并列關系，即相連接的兩個或多個句子或成分之間，從邏輯上來說是并列關系，常見的情況有：...and...、both...and...、...as well as...、not only...but (also)...、neither...no...等;

2、轉折或對比關系，即相連接的兩個或多個句子或成分之間，從邏輯上來說是轉折關系或對比關系，常見的連接詞有：but、however、while、yet、nevertheless等;

3、因果關系，即相連接的兩個或多個句子或成分之間，從邏輯上來說是因果關系，常見的連接詞有：for、so、so that、therefore、because等;

4、選擇關系，即相連接的兩個或多個句子或成分之間，從邏輯上來說是因果關系，常見的連接詞有：or、either...or...、not...but...、or else等;

二、例句解析

【例句1】You have all heard it repeated that men of science work by means of induction and deduction，that by the help of these operations，they，in a sort of sense，manage to extract from nature certain natural laws，and that out of these，by some special skill of their own，they build up their theories.

【譯文】你們都多次聽說過，科學家是用歸納法和演繹法工作的，他們用這些方法，在某種意義上說，力求從自然界找出某些自然規律，然后他們根據這些規律，用自己的某種非同一般的本領，建立起他們的理論。

【解析】句子的框架是You have all heard it…that…，that…，and that…。句中的it是形式賓語，真正的賓語是后面的三個并列分句：(1)that men of science work…and deduction;(2)that by the help of these operations，they…manage to…certain natural laws;(3)and that…，they…their theories.在第二個分句中，they指代前面的men of science，these operations指前文的means of induction and deduction;在第三個分句中，代詞these指代第二個分句中的certain natural laws.

【例句2】Owing to the remarkable development in mass-communications，people everywhere are feeling new wants and are being exposed to new customs and ideas，while governments are often forced to introduce still further innovations for the reasons given above.

【譯文】大眾通訊的顯著發展使各地的人們不斷感到有新的需求，不斷接觸到新的習俗和思想，由于上述原因，政府常常得推出更多的革新。

【解析】句子的框架是Owing to…，people everywhere are feeling…and are being exposed to，while governments are often forced to…。這里出現了兩個并列，第一個并列是and連接的兩個謂語成分“are feeling”和“are being exposed to”，第二個并列是while連接的，與前句形成對比關系。
