常規單詞積累一定要集中在2016考研英語復習的前期，否則后面無論考研英語閱讀復習還是翻譯復習的開展都會有困難。同時，考研英語單詞記憶不能只記中文釋義，要掌握其常見用法，固定搭配，并且在能力范圍內利用詞根觸類旁通。

★ pessimistic

a.悲觀(主義)的

【例】Markets are pessimistic about Ukraine for two reasons.對烏克蘭市場表示悲觀主要有兩個原因。

【同義替換】gloomy, cheerless, negative

【派生】pessimist n.悲觀主義者 pessimistically ad.悲觀地 pessimism n.悲觀主義

【真題】This long perspective makes the pessimistic view of our prospects seem more likely to be a passing fad.這種更遠的視角使得對于我們未來悲觀的觀點看起來更像是一種消逝的潮流。

★ legislation

n.法律(規);立法，法律的制定(或通過)

【例1】As a former lawyer, Mr. Medvedev has started with legislation.律師出身的梅德韋杰夫從立法開始著手。

【例2】In 2007 President George Bush signed legislation requiring a fivefold increase in biofuels production, to 36 billion gallons by 2022. 2007年布什總統簽署了一項法令，要求生物燃料產量在2022年以前增加到目前規模的五倍，總產量達到360億加侖。

【構詞】leg(法律)+isla+-tion(名詞詞綴)→法律，立法

【同義替換】lawmaking

【派生】legislate v.立法

【真題1】Now the company is suddenly claiming that the 2002 agreement is invalid because of the 2006 legislation, and that only the federal government has regulatory power over nuclear issues.現在，該公司突然聲稱因為2006年出臺的法規，2002年簽訂的協議無效。不但如此，它還聲稱只有聯邦政府才對核事件有管轄權。

v.證明，證實;發證書(或執照)給

【例】Two witnesses must certify that this is your signature.必須有兩個見證人證明這確實是你的簽字。

【構詞】cert(確定)+-ify(使……)→使確定→證明，證實

【同義替換】verify, guarantee, confirm, substantiate, endorse

【派生】certificate n.證(明)書，執照 certificated a.授予證明書的，合格的 certification n.證明
