常規單詞積累一定要集中在2016考研英語復習的前期，否則到了復習后期無論是考研英語閱讀的復習還是翻譯的復習，都會遇到困難。同時，考研英語單詞記憶不能僅僅只記中文釋義，更要掌握其常見用法、固定搭配，并且在能力范圍內利用詞根觸類旁通。考研英語對于詞匯的考查主要體現在考查“同義替換”的能力上，也就是考查考生對于語言多樣性的把握，所以考生在背單詞的時候一定要掌握單詞的同義詞。

brilliant

a.光輝的，燦爛的;卓越的，有才華的

【例】Moreover , to Hitler’s mind the sparse applause did not do justice to the brilliant performance.此外，希特勒認為，這樣精彩的演出只博得稀稀拉拉的掌聲是不公正的。

【同義替換】bright, intelligent, outstanding

【派生】brilliantly ad. 輝煌地，燦爛地

【真題】The changes that have taken place in air travel during the last sixty years would have seemed completely impossible to even the most brilliant scientists at the turn of the 19th century.過去六十年中航空旅行發生的變化，在19世紀之交，哪怕是對最杰出的科學家來說，似乎都完全不可能發生。

equivalent

a.(to)相等的，等價的 n.相等的，等價物

【例】The first law tells us that work output cannot be produced without an equivalent amount of energy input.第一定律告訴我們，如果沒有等量的能量輸入，就不可能產生輸出功。

【構詞】equi(=equ , equal 等，相同)+ val(=value 價值)+-ent(形容詞后綴)→等價的

thorny

a.令人苦惱的;棘手的，麻煩的

【例】This is a thorny problem for our team to solve,這是一個我們隊要解決的棘手難題。

【同義替換】difficult , hard

【派生】thorn n. 刺，棘刺(The Thorn Bird 著名小說《荊棘鳥》)

【真題】At the same time, the policy addresses none of the truly thorny questions about homework. 與此同時，這項政策沒有解決關于家庭作業的任何一個棘手問題。
