2016考研英語：核心詞匯(66)

常規單詞積累一定要集中在2016考研英語復習的前期，否則到了復習后期無論是2016考研英語閱讀的復習還是翻譯的復習，都會遇到困難。同時，單詞記憶不能只記中文釋義，要掌握其常見用法、固定搭配，并且在能力范圍內利用詞根觸類旁通。2016考研英語對于詞匯的考查主要體現在考生“同義替換”的能力上，也就是考查考生對于語言多樣性的把握，所以考生在背單詞的時候一定要掌握單詞的同義詞。

augment

v.(使)增大，增加，增長，擴張

【例】The farmers work hard in the hope to augment their incomes.農民們辛勤勞作，希望能增加自己的收入。

【構詞】aug(提高)+-ment→提高，增強

【同義替換】increase, add, aggrandize

【派生】augmentation n.增加，增大

【真題】During this transfer, traditional historical methods were augmented by additional methodologies designed to interpret the new forms of evidence in the historical study.

在改變過程中，傳統的歷史方法被加入了新的研究方法，該方法是用來解釋歷史研究中證據的新形式。

authentic

a.真的，真正的;可靠的，可信的

【例】According to the authentic news, the grafter has been arrested.據可靠消息，那名貪污犯已被捉拿歸案。

【同義替換】actual, genuine; reliable, dependable, credible, believable

【派生】authentically ad.真正地;可靠地 authenticate v.鑒定，證明……是真實的

【真題】Kids need a range of authentic role models——as opposed to members of their clique, pop stars and vaunted athletes.

孩子們需要各種各樣真實的榜樣，這與他們小圈子里的成員、流行歌星以及受吹捧的運動員不同。

equator

n.赤道

【例】Temperate seasons are opposite above and below the Equator; when it is summer weather above, it is cold weather below, and vice-versa.赤道以北和以南地區的季節相反;赤道北部是夏季時，南部卻是寒冷的季節，反之亦然。

【構詞】equ(=equal相等)+-ator(名詞后綴，表示物)→均分地球為南北兩半球的緯線

【派生】equate v.使相等、相同 equation n.平等，相等，等式(數)

【真題】The data received from the two spacecraft whirling around Mars indicate that there is much evidence that huge thunderstorms are occurring about the equator of the planet.

從這兩個圍繞火星的太空飛船上收集到的數據顯示，有大量的證據證明在火星的赤道附近正在發生大強度的雷雨。
