單詞的背誦一定要貫穿2016考研復習的整個周期，否則無論是閱讀的復習還是翻譯的復習，都會遇到困難。同時，單詞記憶不能只記中文釋義，要掌握其常見用法、固定搭配，并且在能力范圍內利用詞根觸類旁通。考研對于詞匯的考查主要體現在考生“同義替換”的能力上，也就是考查考生對于語言多樣性的把握，所以考生在背單詞的時候一定要掌握單詞的同義詞。

variable

a.易變的，可變的；變量的  n.變量

【例】Charcoal here implies a component with variable properties, not a specific chemical.木炭是一種具有可變性質而不是特定性質的化學藥品。

【構詞】vari（改變）+-able→能改變的→可變的

【同義替換】changeable, mobile, unstable, liquid

【真題】Building on the basic truth about interpersonal influence, the researchers studied the dynamics of social influence by conducting thousands of computer simulations of populations manipulating a number of variables relating to people’s ability to influence others and their tendency to be influenced.

elite

n.精華；精銳；中堅分子

【構詞】e+lite（=lig選擇）→精選出來的→精英

【同義替換】cream, essence, quintessence

【派生】elitism n.精英主義；杰出人物統治論

【真題】If you were to examine the birth certificates of every soccer player in 2006’s World Cup tournament, you would most likely find a noteworthy quirk: elite soccer players are more likely to have been born in the earlier months of the year than in the later months.
