In the drawing, a girl carries a spade with a question where the water is in mind after digging out several holes futilely. As a matter of fact, the water is just beneath the holes the girl has dug out, but the girl stopped digging after several trials without success. How thought-provoking the drawing conveys!
We can see from the drawing that if the girl hasn’t given up digging after several futile trials, the scenery will be different. Pitifully, the girl didn’t persevere to the end. There is a maxim going like that: perseverance means victory. That is to say, it is perseverance that brings us to success. There are numerous examples in history. Take Edison, the American inventor, as an instance. Despite the failure of trying more than six thousand materials, he didn’t give up. Instead, he persevered until he found the right material to make light bulbs. If he didn’t persevere in his experiments after over six thousand failures, the invention of light bulbs would be postponed many years or longer.
Do we often give up after many times of failures? If yes, we are just like the hole-digging girl; if no, congratulations to you. Just as the saying goes: constant dropping wears the stone, please make perseverance in what deserves to be done.
