簡單句

此時using techniques developed for the offshore oil and gas industry為狀語可以剝離；the Glomar Challenger 為插入語可以跳讀；extracting samples of sediments and rocks from the ocean floor.為狀語可以剝離。剩下主干：The DSDP 's drill ship ,was able to maintain a steady position on the ocean's surface and drill in very deep waters 。譯為：深海鉆井計劃（DSDP）的“格洛瑪·挑戰者”號鉆探船能夠在海面上保持穩定的位置，并鉆進很深的水底。

非簡單句

非簡單句的定義是這樣的，它含有一套以上的主謂結構且句子中成分是句子構成的。所以，非簡單句遠遠要比簡單句復雜的多。如何將非簡單句簡單化呢？首先對并列句和主從復合句要有一個清晰的認知。如：結構和慣用連接詞等。下面看道例題：

A poem line describes a fight between a Turkish and a Bulgarian officer on a birdge off which they both fall into the river.

這個句子是一個典型的定語從句，句子的的拆分點是off，which指代前面的名詞birdge，這樣這個句子就分成了兩個句子：1、A poem line describes a fight between a Turkish and a Bulgarian officer on the birdge.2、They both fall into the river off the bridge.句意也就一目了然了。所以說，面對非簡單句化繁為簡是最直接有效的辦法。
